QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified Social Worker. Registered Social Worker with
CORU.
WORKING HOURS: Five Rivers Fostering is seeking to recruit Sessional
On-call Social Workers who have the capacity to work as part of our
Emergency Placement Service. This service operates outside of office
hours, from 5 pm on weekdays and over the weekend.
SALARY: There is a flat rate on-call allowance paid for each on-call
period. There is an additional hourly rate that may be applicable,
depending on how many calls require a response and depending on how
many hours are worked during the on-call period.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION:_ _Five Rivers Ireland is an independent private

established in Ireland. Five Rivers was originally founded in England
before setting up an office in Dublin, Ireland. Our Cork Office has
been in operation since January * and we have a
team working in the Northwest of the country. We work closely with
Tusla. We are a social enterprise.
HEAD OFFICE LOCATION:_ _Five Rivers Fostering, Unit 4 Block 8,
Corporate Business Park 1, Blanchardstown, Dublin **Apply on the

WORK BASE: You will be based from your home while on call. All work
completed will be over the phone, and paperwork is completed online.
TRAVEL: There may be some requirement for travel to attend training,
but this will be limited, and any costs will be reimbursed.
_JOB OVERVIEW:_
Five Rivers Fostering is seeking to recruit sessional Social Workers
who have the capacity to work as part of our Emergency Placement
Service. This service operates outside of office hours, from 5 pm on
weekdays and over the weekend. To ensure the effective implementation
of this service we require additional Social Workers who are available
to work on an ‘on call basis’. Successful applicants would ideally
have experience in the area of Child Protection and Welfare or in
Fostering. While ‘on call’ you will be available to take referrals
from Tusla’s Out of Hours service and will be required to match
children with our dedicated emergency foster carers who are also
on-call. You will also provide advice and guidance over the phone to
Five Rivers foster carers who require out-of-hours support.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE
SESSIONAL ON- CALL SOCIAL WORKER:
* To be available for all calls for the duration of your on-call
shift.
* To receive a call from a Five Rivers colleague at the start of
your shift to transfer the office phone to your work mobile phone.
* To respond to Five Rivers, foster carers’ queries that cannot
wait till the next working day.
* To provide advice and assistance over the phone to Five Rivers
foster carers who are experiencing a crisis situation.
* To inform the on-call manager of all relevant situations.
* To respond to all referrals for emergency foster placements from
Tusla’s National Out of Hours Service.
* To gather all relevant information in relation to any child/young
person referred for an emergency foster placement and to risk assess
their suitability to be placed.
* To match suitable children and young people to Five Rivers
emergency foster carers, based on location, carer’s circumstances,
carer’s experience and child/young person’s presenting needs.
* To liaise with Five Rivers emergency foster carers and share all
relevant information with them so they can consider their ability to
care for the referred child/young person.
* To give guidance and advice to Five Rivers emergency foster carers
on how best to manage certain situations and behaviors.
* To complete all necessary paperwork. This paperwork must be
completed and emailed to Tusla by 7 am on the next working day.
